On the Road to The Great Conversation in Security

Security Systems News (SSN) hosted the first of a monthly webinar series featuring the conversations we are having with security executives, consultants and technology vendors. This adds to the off-line conversations we are having throughout the year that infuse and inform The Great Conversation in Security general forum on March 5-6, 2018 at the Bell Harbor Convention Center on the waterfront of Seattle.

The Great Conversation in Security Webinar Series began with a discussion on the value of leveraging an organizational culture featuring the Senior Director of Global Security, Tyson Aiken and one of the principals of the Enterprise Security Risk Group (eSRG) at Aronson Security Group, Wendi Walsh.

The webinar opened with a polling question on whether the security program is seen as valuable by the stakeholders of the organization. From that polling question a review of studies on the impact of culture on the bottom line was provided. With this background, Walsh and Aiken shared their experiences on how and why they were engaging the culture to leverage the value of the security program as well as the optimization of business practices.

We will be conducting our next webinar on Wednesday, November 15 at 9:00am PST. It will dive into an update on the Insecurity of Security and will provide some practical guardrails for protecting physical security systems from cyber attacks.

The conversations will continue each month with some compelling and, at times, provocative issues that are front of mind with our community.

  • December 5, 2017: Humans and Machines are Dating: How will it impact security
  • January 10, 2018: Intelligent Communications in the age of voice.
  • February 21, 2018: Highways and On-Ramps: The new role of physical access control platforms in security.
