ASIS Int’l North Texas Chapter Chair
Yolanda has more than 30 years of security experience; first with retail loss prevention, but the last 28 years she has been with security and emergency management. In 1990, she started her career at Texas Instruments in the internal communications center; working in the environment for 9 years monitoring alarms, dispatching, and coordinating security and emergency operations. She attended extensive training on fire systems, hazardous material and incident management to enhance her knowledge and successfully manage daily operations. Yolanda received many accolades during her tenure in this area for her ability to coordinate emergencies while maintaining daily operations.
During her next stage, she assumed more leadership roles and eventually incorporated emergency services and incident management into her career. Yolanda became a member of the TI Incident Command Level 3 structure and has led many incidents around the world. One of the most notable was her assistance during the Japan earthquake and tsunami that occurred in March of 2011. She worked with teams local and abroad to ensure the safety of all employees during the initial incident through business recovery of the sites impacted by the disaster. In addition to managing incidents at TI, Yolanda is a member of the Collin County LEPC and also volunteers with the American Red Cross and Dallas CERT. She is also a member of the North Texas Fusion Center as a Fusion Center Liaison.
Yolanda is responsible for security operations at 4 sites in the North Texas area to include manufacturing sites in Richardson and Sherman, TX. At two other locations, she is responsible for the oversight of executive flight operations at a local hangar and highly sensitive information at the global datacenter. This includes managing 1400 contract security hours a month. Yolanda also manages Dallas area Badge Room operations to include supplier background check process which is required for all suppliers with an active Scope of Work (SOW). Yolanda rotates monthly duties with peers to cover Incident Command.
Yolanda spent most of her adult life raising her 3 daughters with little focus on herself. She currently holds a BAS in Communications from Dallas Baptist University and is pursuing MAS. She is a member of Emergency Managers of Texas (EMAT) and the 2018 & 2019 ASIS International, North Texas Chapter Chair and is joined the ASIS Women in Security Council as the Global Liaison Co-Chair in 2018. In her spare time, she loves to travel and volunteers with a local church focused on humanitarian efforts.
